Why so much lighter? Alcohol carries ~7 kcal per gram — most of a regular beer's calories. Remove the alcohol and most of the calories leave with it.

Ingredients

Water, Barley Malt, Hops, Yeast

SOMA IPA additionally contains oats and wheat. SOMA Belgian Wit contains wheat, orange peel, and coriander.

No artificial flavors, no preservatives, no added sugar, no sweeteners. The beer flavor comes from brewing.

ABV Certification

Every batch is tested to verify alcohol content below 0.5% ABV — the international legal threshold for non-alcoholic beer. For context, that trace level is comparable to kombucha, some fruit juices, and very ripe bananas.

The brewery operates under FSSAI certification, and batch lab reports are available on request at hello@getsoma.store.

Allergen Information

SOMA is brewed from barley and contains gluten. SOMA IPA also contains oats and wheat. Free from milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, and soy.

A Note on Trace Alcohol

<0.5% ABV is trace-level, but it is not absolute zero. If you avoid alcohol entirely for medical, religious, or personal reasons — including pregnancy or recovery — please make that call with your doctor or your own judgment. We will always be straight with you about what is in the can.

NA Beer Myths, Debunked

“Non-alcoholic beer is just flavored soda”

False — at least for ours. SOMA is brewed exactly like craft beer: mashed, boiled, hopped, and fully fermented. The alcohol is removed at the end by vacuum distillation. Cheap NA beers skip fermentation; that is where the soda comparison comes from.

“<0.5% ABV can get you drunk”

False. At trace levels your body metabolizes the alcohol faster than you can ingest it. Studies show blood alcohol stays effectively at zero even after several NA beers in quick succession. Ripe bananas and kombucha carry similar trace levels.

“NA beer is full of sugar”

Depends on the beer. Radler-style malt drinks add fruit syrup and land at 90-120 calories. SOMA adds zero sugar — all carbs come from malt, and full fermentation consumes most of them. 11-20g carbs per 500ml can.

“It is healthier to just drink water”

For hydration, sure. But nobody reaches for NA beer instead of water — they reach for it instead of regular beer (150+ kcal and a hangover) or a sugary mocktail (200+ kcal). against those, 63-99 calories with zero sugar wins comfortably.

A Note on Honesty

SOMA is beer without the alcohol. It is not a health drink, a protein source, or a miracle. It will not boost your immune system or improve your marathon time. It is a genuinely good craft beer that leaves out the one ingredient with the downsides. We are honest about what it is and what it is not.
